CLISP Project Movie
Midterm Conference
The common Midterm Conference of the CLISP and ClimAlpTour projects was successfully held on the 26th of May in Acqui Terme, Piemonte, Italy. The Conference was hosted by CLISP Project Partner Provincia di Alessandria.
The Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea in cooperation with Provincia di Alessandria and UNCEM was organizing the joint event in order to enhance the visibility of the two Alpine Space projects, to inform a broader expert audience as well as the public at large about running project activities and available interim results, and to identify common goals and possible synergies between both projects.
The joint event marks the first time that two Alpine Space projects collaborated that closely in implementing their public project conferences. The idea to integrate both mid-term conferences was motivated by the fact that both projects are focused on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies, with both spatial planning and tourism being strongly affected by the effects of climate change. Above all, by the example of two key players in climate change adaptation, namely spatial planning and tourism, the event was targeted at raising awareness for the need to develop joint strategies in adaptation to climate change that are harmonized across sectors.
The first part of the conference was mainly addressed to the public and to mass media and highlighted the need for adaptation, including by the example of running project activities in two CLISP model regions. In the afternoon sessions, experts were given the opportunity to actively contribute their views in two expert round table discussions on CLISP and ClimAlpTour related topics.
An international audience of more than 100 participants from many Alpine Space countries as well as many media representatives attended the joint conference. The good media coverage, including national and regional newspapers as well as electronic media, reflects the growing interest of the public in climate change issues.
